The Gear I Use (and Why I Actually Use It)
I get asked about my setup a lot, so I wanted to put everything in one place — the cameras, lenses, audio, lighting, and the small rigging pieces that make shoots smoother.
My kit isn’t built around chasing the newest gear. It’s built around speed, reliability, and flexibility — so whether I’m shooting a campaign, a run-and-gun job, or something more cinematic, I’m covered without overcomplicating the process.
Cameras
Sony FX3
This is my main camera when I want the most reliable “cinema” performance in a compact body. It’s built for real video work, handles low light extremely well, and stays consistent across long shoots. This is the camera I grab when the job needs to feel high-end.
Sony A7IV
My hybrid workhorse and the perfect second body. Great image quality, very capable for both photo and video, and it slots into my Sony ecosystem without changing how I work. It’s also a great backup body if I want redundancy on set.
DJI Mavic Mini
This is my “small drone, big value” option. Quick to set up, easy to travel with, and perfect for establishing shots that instantly make a project feel more premium.
Lenses
Samyang 18mm f2.8
A lightweight wide option that’s perfect for travel, tighter spaces, and shots where I want energy and movement. Great for “get the shot fast” situations.
Sony 35mm f1.8
One of the most useful focal lengths ever. It’s small, fast, and gives a clean, natural look that works for almost everything — talking head, lifestyle, handheld, street, you name it.
SIGMA 24–70mm f2.8
This is the backbone lens. If I’m showing up to a shoot and I don’t know exactly what I’ll need, this is usually what’s on the camera first. It covers a huge range and stays sharp and consistent.
Tamron 28–75mm f2.8 (Backup lens)
This is my dependable backup zoom. Similar flexibility, great performance, and it’s saved me plenty of times when I need redundancy or I’m moving fast.
Sony 90mm f2.8 Macro
My detail lens. Perfect for product closeups, texture, food shots, and anything where the “premium feel” comes from tiny details. The macro look instantly elevates a sequence.
Helios 44M 58mm (Vintage lens)
This one is for character. When I want a more dreamy, imperfect, “cinematic” feel — this lens gives it instantly. It’s not about clinical sharpness; it’s about vibe.
Audio
I care about audio a lot because it’s the fastest way to make a video feel professional (or amateur). My audio setup is built to cover both run-and-gun and more controlled work.
RØDE Wireless PRO
My go-to wireless mic setup. Fast, consistent, and super reliable. Perfect for talking-head, BTS, client work, and anything where I need clean dialogue without extra fuss.
Sennheiser AVX Kit
A great option when I want a clean, broadcast-style wireless setup. It’s solid for interviews and more “professional” productions where reliability matters.
Sony K3M Mic
This is for quick, clean audio straight into camera — ideal when I want speed on set, a minimal setup, and fewer points of failure.
Lighting
My lighting kit is built around versatility: one or two strong key options, modifiers that shape fast, and small lights for color, accents, and practicals.
Amaran 200D
Strong, reliable key light that can handle a lot of situations. Great output for the size and the price, and it’s easy to build a clean look with it.
Amaran 100D
Great as a secondary light — fill, rim, background punch, or quick setup when I don’t need a huge source.
Aputure Dome II
My go-to soft light modifier. If I want flattering light on faces or a clean commercial look, this gets me there quickly.
Aputure Lantern
This is my “light the whole space” tool. Perfect for soft ambient light, especially if I’m filming in a room and want it to feel natural and evenly lit.
Amaran T2C
This is for color and accents — background mood, edge light, practical-style lighting, and creative looks.
Honey Badger flashlight
Sounds simple, but it’s insanely useful — quick highlights, texture, practical motivation, or just solving a lighting problem without setting up a full fixture.
GODOX Flash Kit IT32 TTL (Sony)
When I’m shooting photo or hybrid, this is the quick flash option that gets consistent results without overthinking it.
5-in-1 Reflector
Still one of the best tools in any kit. Bounce, negative fill, quick shaping — always useful and always worth bringing.
Support + Rigging
C-Stand
For overhead shots, stable mounting, and anything where I need rock-solid positioning. One of those pieces that becomes essential once you own it.
Peak Design Tripod
Compact, clean design, and super easy to travel with. Great when I want something sturdy without the bulk.
Zhiyun Weebill-S
My gimbal for smooth movement shots. Great for dynamic sequences, product movement, or anything where I want that floating camera feel.
NiSi Magnetic Variable ND System
A huge time-saver. Magnetic ND makes exposure changes fast, which matters a lot when you’re shooting run-and-gun or moving between lighting conditions.
Magic Arm
One of the most underrated tools — mounting monitors, lights, accessories, or building quick rigs without needing a million clamps.
iPhone POV Rig
Perfect for behind-the-scenes and POV angles. Makes content feel more real and “in the moment,” and it’s an easy way to capture extra assets while you’re already shooting.
